The Academy Performing Arts

Casting Opportunity

Hi Karena and Alison and all at The Academy,

Thank-you for helping with this. We are producing a new entertainment show similar to Saturday Night Takeaway whereby we have a few camera stunts and are surprising people. The roles we need to fill for Middlesbrough are:

A young (twenties) pretty female to play a bride
A young (twenties) good looking man to play a vicar
A tall (mid twenties) male to play a courier
A mature looking male to play a fisher man (moustache or beard preferable)

If you can recommend anybody for these roles, I would be very grateful. The show itself is very fun and light hearted and is hosted by Vernon Kay so will attract huge numbers no doubt! If people are interested if they apply via email to myself with a recent photograph and their availability. The filming is to take place during the first week of September - most likely 3rd/4th. Please do call me if you have any queries.

Thank-you and best wishes,
Lianna.

Post your comment if interested.

September 12th, 19th, 26th

Please note that extra workshops and rehearsals will be offered.

The sister company of The Academy is about to be launched this Autumn, offering workshops and performances to community, school and corporate sector.
Soaring Eagle is a dynamic and fresh Theatre production company with an affiliated casting directory offering access to the professional sector. Those associated with the company get the opportunity to work with professional actors; hence Academy members will benefit first hand.

Keep in touch and tell all your friends!

As a professional actress, Miss Karena has played her share of Shakespeare, light hearted comedy and musicals but always said that The Greeks were a turn off.. well after an inspired week in the company of John Barton and others from many well established theatre companies such as Marcia Carr from ImpetuousKinship Theatre Co and others.. including The Royal Shakespeare Company, she is buzzing with inspired ideas to coax you students in the the wondrous opportunities to perform works.. some over 4000 years old!! .. and still as funny, heart wrenching and dynamic as their first performance.

Miss Ali is full of wonderful movement and dance ideas based on her ample study of styles across the ages.. so we look forward to seeing you and as many of your friends as you can bring along in September.. the Festival may have been postponed.. but our desire to nurture you and offer as many varied performance opportunities as possible are still forging us forward.. with the added bonus of an increasing network of professional contacts.

See u soon

Dear students…
We have just been informed that the festival due to take place between the 14th-16th August has been postponed. Miss Ali would like you to contact her as soon as possible and let her know if you would still like to have a workshop on 14th and 15th August. We will be providing more performance opportunities to you in the near future, and could use the workshop to create some filming ideas.

Best wishes from Amsterdam!
Miss Karena.. see you soon

Next rehearsal for Festival will be at our usual new location 10-12pm on both 14th and 15th August. Festival performance will be on 16th Aug. Time of arrival TBC.

Please note that The Garden Party has been postponed until further notice.
